![]() ![]() The Paris Opera House would be a wonderful place to start a new line of intricately designed LEGO sets scaled for minifigures. The front facade is articulated with a piano-nobile loggia of columns that references the Louvre. ![]() I thing many adult LEGO fans would appreciate 10,000+ piece sets. The geometric exercise of a circular theater within a rectangular form is especially tricky as the straight city streets press upon the building on all sides and the front plaza impress the building’s geometry into its surroundings. Unlike the Southern France, Paris has very few examples of Romanesque architecture most churches and other buildings in that style were rebuilt in the Gothic style. The opulent ornamentation and monumental style make the opera house one of the architectural masterpieces of the period. In a city of jewels however, there is none more. Notable among them are Notre Dame, Versailles and the Louvre. Man: This is a second empire style at its height. Many are the architectural jewels of Paris. Theres colored marble and paintings and mosaics. Perhaps The LEGO company could focus on a particular style like Haussmann, Garnier, Eiffel and others. Man: Theres no question that one of the great crowns of Napoleon IIIs reign and of Haussmanns reconstruction of Paris is the work of Charles Garnier and the Paris Opera. I believe that The LEGO Company should create a line of beautiful European buildings honoring many of the famous theaters, opera houses, museums, palaces, and government buildings. This creation contains over 12,000 LEGO parts and it took about 4.5 months to design, plan, and build. As an opera fanatic and an admirer of French architecture, this project was inspired by a copy of a painting by Jean Beraud: "Le Couloir de l' Opera." The Grand Staircase is beautifully portrayed and I wanted to create an ornate interior along with a detailed exterior finish. ![]()
